How It Works
From symptom description to prescription pickup, here is every step of the Appendix encounter flow.
AI agent helps draft clinical letter
Your AI agent (Claude, GPT, or any other) gathers the patient's symptoms, medical history, allergies, and other relevant details through conversation. It assembles this information into a structured clinical letter following the Appendix letter format.
- •Agent searches the knowledge base for clinical context
- •Patient describes symptoms in their own words
- •Agent asks targeted follow-up questions
- •Final letter is structured with all 11 required sections
API evaluates completeness
When the letter is submitted to the API, it is evaluated against 11 clinical criteria. If anything is missing, the API returns exactly what's needed so the agent can gather more information.
- •Chief Complaint, Age and Sex, History of Present Illness
- •Review of Systems, Past Medical History, Allergies
- •Family History, Social History
- •Diagnosis, Treatment Plan, Request Within Scope
Patient verifies identity and pays
Once the letter passes evaluation, the patient receives a checkout URL. They sign in, verify their identity, select their pharmacy, and subscribe ($99/mo).
- •Secure Clerk authentication
- •Identity verification
- •Pharmacy selection (any U.S. pharmacy)
- •$99/mo + $29/mo per family member, cancel anytime — full refund before a prescription is written
Board-certified physician reviews
A licensed, board-certified physician personally reviews the submission. They evaluate the clinical appropriateness and make an independent medical decision. The physician may approve, reject, or request additional information from the patient.
- •Most submissions are reviewed within 24 hours
- •Independent clinical judgment — no AI makes medical decisions
- •Physician can message the patient for clarification
- •Subscription continues — use it for future encounters or cancel anytime
Prescription e-sent to pharmacy
If the physician approves, the prescription is electronically sent to the patient's chosen pharmacy. The patient is notified and can pick up their medication.
- •E-prescription to any U.S. pharmacy
- •Patient notified via email
- •Prescription details available in patient portal
Is an AI writing my prescription?
No. AI assists with gathering and organizing information, but every prescription decision is made by a licensed, board-certified physician who personally reviews the submission. The AI never makes clinical determinations.
