Fair Use Policy
How we keep Appendix unlimited for everyone who uses it normally.
The short version
Your plan covers unlimited physician-reviewed encounters under normal personal and family use. We don’t post a usage number because almost nobody hits one. If we see patterns that look like abuse or misuse, we may limit, pause, or terminate your access at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
What fair use looks like
- Submissions are for your own care or for someone on your plan.
- You wait for the physician’s response before re-submitting the same concern, unless they’ve asked you for more information.
- The symptoms, history, and identity you submit are truthful.
- Communication with our clinicians and team is respectful.
What’s not fair use
- Medication-seeking patterns, including repeated submissions across encounters, accounts, or family members.
- Prescriptions for someone not on your plan. Each person who receives a prescription must be a verified seat on your account.
- Falsified information — fake identities, fabricated symptoms, or manipulated photos or test results.
- Reselling, sharing, or distributing any prescription issued through Appendix.
- Test, prank, or non-medical submissions.
- Abusive, threatening, or harassing communication with our clinicians or staff.
- Any use that violates our Terms of Service or applicable U.S. law.
What we may do
If we determine, in our sole discretion, that your use of Appendix violates this policy or otherwise warrants action, we may:
- Throttle or decline future submissions.
- Pause or close your account.
- Cancel your subscription (subject to the Refund Policy) and refuse re-enrollment.
- Report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities where required.
We may take any of these actions with or without prior notice, and we are not obligated to provide a reason.
Clinical decisions are not fair use decisions
A physician may decline to issue a prescription for clinical reasons — for example, the request isn’t medically appropriate, it requires an in-person exam, or it falls outside the conditions our team treats. That’s a clinical judgment by a licensed physician, not a fair use action by Appendix.
